Reeves Veda Loretta McDaniel Reeves, 93, of Swainsboro, Ga., formerly of Hampton, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Louisville, Ga. Mrs. Reeves was a native of Hampton and a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Alexander and Rhoda Alice Bowers Hardin. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin McDaniel, in 1951, her second husband, Sanford S. Reeves, in 1970, and by four sisters and a brother. Mrs. Reeves retired after 22 years as a clerk for the Hampton Post Office. She later resided in Elizabethton and Kingsport before moving to Swainsboro four years ago. She was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church of Swainsboro, where she was a faithful member of the Naomi Sunday School Class. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Vaughn Randolph, Kingsport, Jo and Jim Franklin, Johnson City, and Wanda and Gene Arrington, Swainsboro, Ga.; three grandsons, Michael Hutcheson, Conyers, Ga., Mark Randolph, Kingsport, and Alan Randolph, Jackson; five granddaughters, Lynne Landreth, Kingsport, Leslie Emmett, Salisbury, N.C., Jill Graham, Swainsboro, Ga., Jamie Franklin, Chicago, Ill., and Jodie Franklin, Johnson City; a sister, Ruby Elliott, Elizabethton; a half sister, Mary Harris, Elizabethton; a half brother, Joe Hardin, Elizabethton; a stepdaughter, Sue Slade, Collegedale, Ga.; and four stepsons, Glenn McDaniel, Brooklyn, N.Y., Jack McDaniel, Etowah, Bill Reeves and Charles Reeves, both of Elizabethton. Jack Lyons, nephew, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Highland Cemetery, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Earl Warnock officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mark Randolph, Allan Randolph, Jim Emmett, Paul Sellers, Bill Sellers and Andy Franklin. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday for the graveside service.
