Robinson 3/17/00 Mrs. Ethel G. Robinson, 85, 4406 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md., died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. Mrs. Robinson was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Barney and Etta Creed Ritchie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William C. Robinson, in 1971, and a son, William Van Robinson. Mrs. Robinson moved to Hyattsville, Md., in 1954 and was employed by the S & H Green Stamp store from the early 1960s until the '80s at which time she worked for the Prince George's County School System until her retirement in 1985. She moved to Ocean City in 1992. She was a member of the Ocean City/Berlin Church of God. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Stoneburner, Ocean City, Md.; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon S. and Loretta Robinson, Germantown, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Margie Robinson Wilson; two sisters, Beulah Smith and Josephine Williams, both of Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Greg Redman, Chrissy Downing, Wade Robinson, Shauna Robinson, Nicole Robinson, Matthew Robinson and Veronica Robinson; and a great-grandchild, Brittney Redman. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. ROBINSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel G. Robinson, 85, 4406 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md., formerly of Hyattsville, Md., who went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 15, 2000, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Estep and Mr. Vernon Robinson officiating. Music will be provided by JoAnna Orr. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, will be Vernon Robinson, Wade Robinson, Greg Redman, Wayne Wilson, Donald Downing and Dean Robinson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. *Note by Julia Williams Kodak: This obiturary lists as Mrs. Robinson's parents, Barney and Etta Creed Ritchie. Ethel was actually the daughter of Allen Barnel Ritchie, probably called Barney. Allen was the son of Elbert Ritchie and Josephine Creed. This is probably where the confusion on the Creed came in. Allen and Etta are on the 1920 Carter County Census as follows: Ritchie Allen B.: Head Own Home, Free of Debt, Male, White, Age 37, Able to read, Able to write, born in TN, Father and Mother born in TN, a Farmer. Etta: Wife Female White Age 36 Able to read, unable to write, TN TN TN Anna Lee: Daugher Age 10 Beulah J.: Daughter Age 7 Ethel G.: Daughter Age 4 Josephine: Daughter Age 7/12 This family was dwelling number 5, Civil District 10, page 186.
