Roberts Mrs. Ruth Lewis Roberts, 73, 1050 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, January 14, 2002, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Roberts was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Murray and Tessie Williams Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Roberts, in 1971; an infant daughter, Katherine; a stepson, Kenneth Roberts; two infant sisters, Erma Jean Lewis, in 1940, and Loretta Lewis, in 1942; four sisters, Pauline Garland, in 1997, Pansy Lawrence, in 1975, Mary Beam, in 1998, and Billie Jo Williams, in 2002; a brother, Grady Lewis, in 2000; and a great-grandson, Christian Barker, in 2000. Mrs. Roberts was retired due to disability as a food service worker from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Roberts, Elizabethton; nine daughters and eight sons-in-law, Betty and Ray Pritt and Judy and Bobby Babb, all of Elizabethton, Joan and Charles Church, Connelly Springs, N.C., Della and Brad Jaynes, Blountville, Loretta Roberts and her special friend, Robert, Bluff City, Robin and Donnie Bagley, Knoxville, Barbara and Walter Williams, Virginia Beach, Va., Brenda and Jeff Webb, Kingsport, and Lisa and Darrell Molesberry, Hampton, Va.; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Jean and Louie Martinez, of Michigan; a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Inez Lewis, Elizabethton; two sisters, Virginia Dean and June Hursh, both of Cleveland, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Lynn Williams, Elizabethton. Eighteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. ROBERTS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Lewis Roberts, 73, 1050 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, January 14, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Shorter and the Rev. Harold Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by the Zion Baptist Church Choir and Brenda Loveless, soloist. Private graveside services will be conducted Thursday, January 17, in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be friends, Betty Ellis, Georgia Heaton, Elsie Miller, members of Zion Baptist Church and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
