CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Thelma Eileen Julian Romer, 25 Jun 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Thelma Eileen Julian Romer, 84, a loving sister and aunt, of Elizabethton Highway (Central Community), died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Romer was a native of Roan Mountain and a daughter of the late James N. and Vista Honeycutt Julian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Romer, December 1992, her stepmother, Mariana Julian, three brothers, Reginald Julian, Adrian Julian and James Julian Jr., and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Julian. Mrs. Romer was a charter member of Magill Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roan Mountain, and was a former youth teacher and church historian from 1977 until 1987. She was a former member and teacher of the Dixie Round Dance Council and a Caller for the Betsy Squares couple round dancing. She was an avid pet lover. Mrs. Romer worked in the textile lab of North American Rayon Corporation and retired after 46 years of employment as an analyst. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Durward and Audrey Julian, Roan Mountain, and Paul and Jean Julian, Baltimore, Md.; sisters-in-law, Ruby Julian, Elk Park, N.C., and Juanita Julian, Bristol, Tenn.; a goddaughter, Jilian Clark, Elizabethton; a brother-in-law and spouse, David and Juella Francis; nine nephews and spouses, Richard "Dick" and Hortensia Julian of California, Douglas and JoAnne Julian of Maryland, Ronnie and Lynn Julian of North Carolina, Lanny and Donna Julian of Florida, Larry and Kathy Julian of Virginia, Terry and Becky Julian of North Carolina, Fred Julian of North Carolina, Adrian Julian Jr. and spouse Meg of North Carolina, and Kenny and Sandra Julian of Maryland; seven nieces and spouses, Kay Julian Dawson and spouse Larry of Maryland, Vista Julian Clark and spouse Dicky of Elizabethton, Glenda Julian and spouse Ray of Georgia, Frieda Julian of Georgia, LaDonna Banner Catts of Florida, Betsy Banner Barnett of Bristol, Tenn., and Ginger Julian McKissack of Maryland; and her former husband and spouse, Chris and Pat Bowers. Mrs. Romer had a loving cat Spookie, which she adored very much. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Romer will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bill Hyers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Tom Burleson and Jilian Clark, soloists, Charlotte Smith, soloist and organist, and Larry Julian, pianist. The graveside service and interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny Ray Elliott, Dicky Clark, Michael Julian, Adrian Julian Jr., Kenny Julian, David Francis, Mark Tipton and Jackie Barnett. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Magill Memorial Presbyterian Church, nephews and great-nephews, Chris and Pat Bowers, Tim Devoe, Rev. Martin Christianson, Rev. Bill Goforth, and special friends, Dottie and Mark Tipton, the Jon Christianson Family, Michael Julian, Marjorie Miller and Arvella Greenwell, and her many friends in her various organizations. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or friends may call at the residence of a niece, Vista Julian Clark, 100 Ray Clark Road, Elizabethton, at other times.
