Center Street, Johnson City, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Ruston was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Roy and Edna Street Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Cable. Mrs. Ruston was a housewife and a member of Westerly Heights Baptist Church where she served as pianist for 52 years. She was also Adult Ladies Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include her husband, Mack Ruston, of the home; two daughters, Sandra Luecke, Mt. Sterling, Ky., and Elaine Miller, Johnson City; two sons, Tony Ruston, Johnson City, and Greg Ruston, Elizabethton; three sisters, Doris Hencke, Elizabethton, Joyce Pettit, Hamilton, Ohio, and Alma Taylor, Harpersfield, Ohio; and two brothers, Dennis Whitehead, Ahoski, N.C., and Danny Whitehead, Cleveland, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, 418 W. College Street, Jonesborough, (423) 753-0514, is in charge of arrangements. RUSTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Ruston, 72, 302 S. Center Street, Johnson City, who died Thursday, February 8, 2001, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Westerly Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Ball, the Rev. Bobby Stout and the Rev. Steve Hopson officiating. Interment will follow at McCarty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Ruston, Jamie Ruston, Michael Luecke, B.J. Miller, Buck Legg, Steven Banner, Bobby Hash and Wil Miller. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
