A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John and Belle Lilly Blevins. Ms. Shipley was retired from Life Care Center of Elizabethton as a CNA, having worked there for 21 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Hawk, three brothers, Gleason, Henry and Earnest Blevins, and four infant brothers. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kay Shipley, with whom she made her home, and Brenda and Bob Norkett, Midland, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Sissy Shipley, Johnson City; three grandchildren, Mark Allen, Terri Graybeal and Ryan Shipley; two great-grandchildren, Megan Presnell and Katie Graybeal; and a special sister-in-law, Mary Sue Blevins, Elizabethton. Several nephews also survive. Funeral services for Ms. Shipley will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Hawk and the Rev. Mark Grubb officiating. Music will be provided by Jerry Barnett, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, will be Sam Cimilluca, Dan Miller, Ryan Shipley, Clayton Hawk, Don Williams, Carl Greene, Wayne Simcox and Charles Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Whatley, Dr. Vivian Clark and the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
