Donald M. Short 





    Donald Myers Short, 78, 141 Little Stoney Creek Road, Elizabethton, died 

Monday, June 26, 2006, at his residence. 





    Mr. Short was the son of the late Audrey Buffamonte. In addition to his 

mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Toots Rogers, and a brother, 

Mike Buffamonte. 





    Mr. Short was a truck driver and a volunteer fireman for 35 years at Five 

Points, in Wilmington, Del. He was of the Methodist faith. 





    Survivors include his wife, Mary Short, of the home; two daughters and 

sons-in-law, Tracy and Mike Kennedy, Lexington, Va., and Lynn and Benny Lyons, 

Elizabethton; a son, Donnie Short, Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Nelson Short, 

Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Honey Hoosier, Troutdale, Va.; and four 

grandchildren, Jessica Cherry, Denton, Md., Laura Coxon, Fredericksburg, Va., 

and Wyatt and Morgan Lyons, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also 

survive. 





    The funeral service for Mr. Short will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 

28, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. 

John Smith, minister, presiding. His wishes were to be cremated. The family 

will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service in the 

chapel, or at the residence at anytime. Honorary pallbearers will be members 

of the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Milt Fair, Bob Campbell, Larry 

Berry and Scott Fletcher. Those who prefer may make donations to the Stoney 

Volunteer Fire Department, 114 Herbert Taylor Lane, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or 

the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter, 253 Sycamore Shoals Road, 

Elizabethton, TN 37643. Condolences may be sent to the family through our Web
