Shoun Georgia L. Shoun, 77, of Elizabethton, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at North Side Hospital. Mrs. Shoun was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Pearl and Anna Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Sonny" Shoun, January 27, 1998, and by two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Shoun was a 1947 graduate of Hampton High School. She had lived in Butler most of her life. She was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Butler Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Hampton, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Yvonne Shoun, Hampton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Shoun Grindstaff and her husband Chris, William Shoun and his wife Franchesca, and Cheyenne Shoun; two great-grandsons, Tre Shoun and Dakota Grindstaff; and a brother, Raymond Lewis, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Shoun will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Cobbs Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Koch, Rev. Bruce Simcox and Rev. Doug Hinshaw officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. Interment will follow at Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 12:50 p.m. Friday, will be Eddie Lawson, Ray Lewis Jr., Johnny Lewis, Ralph Pierce, Gary Lewis, Randy Lewis, Ted Lewis and Randy Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends and members of the Rolling Thunder Chapter #4 Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her son, Bill Shoun, 1062 Highway 321, Hampton. Butler Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To those who prefer, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
