Simerly Mrs. Willie Berry Simerly, 94, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly of Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, August 14, 2006, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Simerly was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Robert G. and Evelyn Holden Berry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Worley C. "Todd" Simerly, in 1967, two infant daughters, a sister, Vina Pierce, and a brother, Clarence Berry. Mrs. Simerly was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and was a homemaker. She was a very loving, caring and giving person and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Sarah Simerly, Murfreesboro, and Fred and Roberta Simerly, Johnson City; four grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa and Bill Lowe, Murfreesboro, Susan and Randy Johnson, Booneville, Miss., Vikki and Steve Kaleen, Charlotte, N.C., and Todd and Jill Simerly, Lawrenceville, Ga.; five great-granddaughters, Lauren Simerly, Lawrenceville, Ga., Mackenzie Lowe, Meredith Lowe and Sarah Margaret Lowe, all of Murfreesboro, and Randi Erin Johnson, Booneville, Miss.; a special friend, Betty Mustard, Elizabethton; and a special brother-in-law, Howard Simerly, Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Simerly will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 17, at Valley Forge Christian Church with Mr. Jason Burchfield and Mr. H. Clay Bailey, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dean Palmer, soloist, and Ken Hecht, pianist. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Simerly-Jenkins Cemetery, Valley Forge community. Active pallbearers will be selected from the deacons and elders of Valley Forge Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Timbs, Buster Arnold, grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Howard Simerly and Glen Ray Simerly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all the wonderful love and care shown to the family.
