Ada R. Simerly 

Ada Roberts Simerly, 91, 458 Tiger Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Monday, 

September 26, 2005, following an extended illness. 

Mrs. Simerly was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late A.R. and 

Sarah Street Roberts. 

Mrs. Simerly was a member of Sunrise Free Will Baptist Church. She had retired 

from Beaunit Fibers and North American Rayon Corporation after 34 years of 

service. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simerly was preceded in death by her husband, 

James William Simerly; a son, Jack Simerly; a daughter-in-law, Juanita 

McLaughlin Simerly; a son-in-law, George E. Sain; and by several brothers and a 

sister. 

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and Lloyd Deloach 

and June and Marvin Honeycutt, all of Hampton, Carole Sain, Vale, N.C., and 

Linda and Thyrone Powell, Roan Mountain; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-

grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The funeral service for Mrs. Simerly will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, 

September 28, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Perry 

Markland, Rev. Dean Smith and Mr. Eddie Julian officiating. The family will 

receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the 

service in the chapel. Friends may also call at any of the residences of the 

daughters at other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 

a.m. Thursday, September 29, in the Simerly Home Cemetery. Everyone will meet 

at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday for the graveside service. Active 

pallbearers will be her grandsons. Those who prefer memorials may make 

donations to Adventa Hospice, 684 Hwy. 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the 

charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family through
