Mary B. Smith 





    Mary Belle Wolfe Smith, 83, of Elizabethton, died at her residence Sunday, 

December 31, 2006. 





    A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and 

Jennie Eggers Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 

her husband, Harold F. Smith, and a son, Robert "Bobby" Smith. 





    Mrs. Smith had lived most of her life in Elizabethton and was retired from 

the Dietary Department of Carter County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of 

the Bible Baptist Church and a Charter Member of the Carter County Crewettes. 





    Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine and David 

Bartz, Brenda and Frank Grindstaff and Janet Fritts Smith, all of 

Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, James Ralph and Carol Smith of 

Titusville, Fla.; a daughter in-law, Mary Lee Smith of Elizabethton; eight 

grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five sisters and three brothers-in-

law, Voleen Fletcher, Charlotte and Howard Bliss and Clara Scalf, all of 

Elizabethton, Roberta and Fred Simerly of Johnson City, and Elizabeth and Joe 

Wheat of Franklin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, 

January 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James C. Murray and the 

Rev. Monroe Willis officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Brad Shepherd. 

Music will be provided by Lauren Harris. Graveside services and interment will 

be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active 

pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. 

Wednesday, will be Jeff Livingston, Jeffery Livingston, Travis Sexton, Richard 

VanHuss, Skip Smith, Jay Smith and Brad Shepherd. Honorary pallbearers will be 

Dr. Robert L. Schubert, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Hunter "Bo" Nave, members and former 

members of the Carter County Rescue Squad and the Carter County Crewettes. The 

family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Schubert and his 

staff, Dr. Farrow and his staff and Adventa Hospice for all of their love and 

care during Mrs. Smith's illness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 

p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence. 

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to
