CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Carrie B. Sams, 3 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Carrie B. Sams Carrie B. Sams, 95, Hillview Health Center, formerly of Southside Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late George and Finnie Hayes Blevins. She was a member of Southside Christian Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.S. "Red" Sams, April 14, 1963; one son, Jack Sams; two daughters, Helen Rachel and Phyllis Sams. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Joann Waycaster, Diana and Don Pleasant, Tootsie and Ray Hill, all of Elizabethton; Polly and Terry McPeak, of South Carolina; eight sons and daughters-in-law, F.D. and Blannie Sams, of Illinois; Fred and Pat Sams, of S.C.; Jerry and Betty Sams; Eddie and Shirley Sams, all of Fla.; Danny and Elsie Sams, John and Penny Sams, all of Elizabethton; Nolan and Glenda Sams, Tommy and Barbara Sams, all of Watauga; 30 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. SAMS -- The funeral service for Carrie B. Sams, 95, Hillview Health Center, formerly of Southside Road, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, April 3, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Steve Burleson and Mr. Mike Koruschak officiating. Music will be under the direction of No Name But HIS. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Southside Christian Church. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home or at the residence, 1716 Southside Road, Elizabethton, at any time.
