CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Norman Lacy Sams, 20 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Norman L. Sams Norman Lacy Sams, 75, formerly of Max Jett Road, Johnson City, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at the N.H.C. nursing home after an illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County, son of Florence Freeman Quinton and the late D. Homer Sams. Mr. Sams was a retired parts manager for the Freeman Motors Company after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Roy Quinton. Survivors include his mother, Florence Freeman Quinton of Carter County and an uncle, Ralph Freeman, as well as many, many cousins and beloved friends. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 8 p.m. at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the North Chapel, under the direction of Pastor Gary D. Thacker. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.. A committal service is to be conducted in the Happy Valley Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
