CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Steven Doll Scalf, 9 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Steven D. Scalf Steven Doll Scalf, 81, Rock Hill Road, Watauga, died Monday, June 9, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center of an apparent heart attack. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James and Carrie Salts Scalf. Mr. Scalf was a retired building contractor and had been a minister for over 50 years. He was presently serving as pastor of the Cripple Creek Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Willie Blevins Scalf; one son, Tex Scalf, of Watauga; one daughter, Eula Currington, of Watauga; a sister, Mae Haines, of Johnson City; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SCALF -- Funeral services for Steven Doll Scalf, 81, Rock Hill Road, Watauga, who died Monday, June 9, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Campbell and Rev. J.W. Mann officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 in the Scalf Cemetery, Watauga. Active pallbearers will be selected from church members and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Proffitt, Albert Harrison, Ralph Hicks, John Shepard, Johnny Potter and Robert Crusenberry. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
