CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James Irvin Shank, 22 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- James Irvin Shank, 74, 109 Pinnacle Drive, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, in the St. John's Health Care, Gray. A native of Philipsburg, Pa., he was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy Lloyd Shank. He had lived in Carter County for a number of years. He was a retired construction worker. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Johnson City Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Shank, Jan. 28, 1983, and by a step-son, David Kyle Tate, Oct. 6, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Lois Faye Wilson Shank; four sons, James M. Shank and Robert P. Shank, both of Elizabethton, Steven W. Shank, of the home, and Terry J. Shank and his fiance, Loretta, and her two daughters, Priscilla and Deidre Blackburn, Butler; a grandson, B.J. Shank, Elizabethton; a step-granddaughter, Candice M. Tate, Fort Lawn, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Mercedes Neil, Modesty Mullins, Haley Mullins, Kayla Hicks and Kendra Hicks; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Paul Dixon officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Travis Scalf, Colt Scalf and employees of Asplundh. Friends may call at the residence. Military honors will be conducted by the Tennessee Army National Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery.
