Shell Irene J. Shell, 81, 162 Hogum Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Bristol Regional Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Shell was a native of Carter County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Shell, April 1, 1983, and two sisters, June Wilson and Lucy Whitehead. Survivors include a brother, Warren Johnson, Waldron, Ind.; two sisters, Edith Smith and Nell Alexander, both of Napoleon, Ind.; and a half-sister, Ruth Mosley, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Shell, 81, 162 Hogum Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, January 20, 2001, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Charlotte Smith. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Denny Johnson, Terry Johnson, Roger Wilson, Rick Smith, Mike Smith and Bob Alexander. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel.
