John Henry Shell

   John Henry Shell, 74, 236 Hogum Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, died Monday, 
November 26, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness.
   Mr. Shell was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Henry 
Gordon Shell and Mamie Ethel Mosley Shell.
   Mr. Shell attended Little Mountain Baptist Church. He was a retired 
employee of General Motors, Baltimore, Md.
   Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Dennis Cavey 
and Kelley and Wandell Yoder, all of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, 
Danielle Shell, Anthony Cavey, Jamie Cavey and Shawn Yoder, all of Baltimore, 
Md.; one great-grandchild, Brian Shell, Baltimore, Md.; five sisters, Pauline 
Turbyfield, Bradyton, Fla., Arthene Holtsclaw, Maelene Street and Cristine Shell, all of Roan Mountain, and Lucille Pitcher, Baltimore, Md.; several 
nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Violet Taylor, Crossnore, N.C.

   SHELL -- Funeral services for John Henry Shell, 74, 236 Hogum Hollow Road, 
Roan Mountain, who died Monday, November 26, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
Wednesday, November 28, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan 
Mountain, with the Rev. Steve Coonse officiating. Music will be under the 
direction of the Little Mountain Quartet. Graveside services and interment 
will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 29, at Richardson Cemetery, 
Shell Creek Community. Active pallbearers will be Marion Phillips, Terry Young 
and selected nephews and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Murriel 
Holtsclaw and Leory Holtsclaw. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. 
Thursday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 
8 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel. Friends may 
also call at the residence of a niece, Geraldine Edwards, 236 Hogum Hollow 
Road, Crabtree Community, Roan Mountain. Condolences may be sent to the family
