CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hettie Bowers Shell, 11 Nov 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Hettie B. Shell Mrs. Hettie Bowers Shell, 100, 124 Hartley Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, November 11, 2002, at Asbury Center, Johnson City. Mrs. Shell was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late William and Angeline Bowling Bowers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Shell, November 20, 1991, a brother, Melvin Bowling, and seven sisters, Eliza Peeks, Cora Pierce, Rose Billings, Georgia Crowe, Jackie Bowers, Minnie Bowers and Bessie Bowers. Mrs. Shell was a dedicated member as well as a Sunday School Teacher of Slagle United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Perkins and Beryl Harrell, both of Johnson City; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Timothy and Cynthia Perkins, Elizabethton; two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter-in- law, Richard and Christina Harris and Jesse Harris, all of Elizabethton; and a great-great-grandson, Kory A. Harris, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. These services entrusted to Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. www.Funeral- Plans.com/Hathaway-Percy SHELL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie Bowers Shell, 100, 124 Hartley Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, November 11, 2002, will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Manis and the Rev. Elbert Charpie officiating. Music will be by the Rev. Elbert Charpie. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jesse Harris, Richard Harris, Timothy Perkins, Don Walters, Lon Davis, Tom Hilton, Jerry Shell and Jimmy Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Shell, Senator Rusty Crowe, Perry Sexton, Spencer Pickel, Harry Miller, Charles Reaves and Herb Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the funeral service on Tuesday evening. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Beryl Harrell, 808 Hiwasse Heights Drive, Johnson City, at any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
