CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - William Ross Shell, 22 Jul 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- William Ross Shell, 95, Hartley Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center at Mountain Home, TN. Mr. Shell was a Carter County native, born June 10, 1909, to the late Noah and Dora Shell as one of six children. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Zana Elizabeth Dobbs Shell, in 1967, and his second wife, Pauline Yates Shell, in 2001. Mr. Shell retired in 1971 as a Bemberg/North American Rayon shift supervisor. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army's Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of East River Park Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Carol Shell, Elizabethton; a son, Jerry Shell, Bristol; two stepdaughters, Tonya Kay Woods, Elizabethton, and Rebekah Hunt, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Michelle Hershey, Elizabethton; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Hershey, Elizabethton; a step-granddaughter, Paula Flack, St. Cloud, Fla.; a step-grandson, Andy Woods, Noblesville, Ind.; and two step-great-grandchildren, Logan Woods, Pendleton, Ind., and Alyssa Woods, St. Cloud, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith. Entombment will follow the funeral service in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Peters, Robert Pilk, Richard Pilk, Don Woods, Andy Woods, Brian Hershey, James Hunt and Tim Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wal-Mart Coffee Club and his church family. Friends may call at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at anytime on Saturday or Sunday up to the service hour.
