Shew 2/01/00 Mrs. Flossie Mae Hardin Shew, 96, 234 Hamilton Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Shew was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph A. and Alice Bowers Hardin. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, John William Sellers Sr. and Joe Shew, and by three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Shew was the oldest member of Oak Street Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Paul Sellers, 234 Hamilton Road, Elizabethton, and John "Bill" Sellers, Elizabethton; two sisters, Veda Reeves, Kingsport, and Ruby Hodge, Elizabethton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and a special nephew, Jack Lyons; and a special daughter-in-law, Charlotte Sellers. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SHEW -- Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Mae Hardin Shew, 96, 234 Hamilton Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Lyons officiating. David Arney, organist, will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, will be Jason Taylor, Jeffrey Taylor, Austin Gilbay, Steve Sellers, Charles Sellers and Paul Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Grindstaff, Richard Collins, Bob Gentry, Mrs. Alma Cates and a special "Thank You" to the Staff and Employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at the residence of a son, Paul Sellers, 234 Hamilton Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
