CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Maxie Estep Shipley, 19 Jul 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Maxie Estep Shipley, 81, formerly of Mayfield Drive, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mrs. Shipley was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late George and Pearl Nave Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, baby Luke, one brother, Collins Estep, and three sisters, Kate White, Moilee Garrison and June Greene. Mrs. Shipley was a member of East River Park Christian Church and had been a textile worker with North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debbie Estep, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Sherrie Estep, Gray; and four sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Estep and Blonnie Estep, both of Elizabethton, Billie Long, South Bend, Ind., and Mary and Ray Hajducsek, Colombia, S.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The graveside service for Mrs. Shipley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home or at the residence of a son, 178 Mayfield Drive, at other times. Music will be under the direction of Edwin Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Rena Burrow, Activities Assistant at Life Care, the north hall team of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, Rev. Clate Briggs Jr. and special family and friends, Edwin Taylor, George White and Bill Broome. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for the special love and care given to Maxie during her stay there.
