Maud M. Shelburne



Mrs. Maud May Shelburne, 88, 107 West H. Street, Elizabethton, died 

Monday, September 23, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a 

brief illness.

Mrs. Shelburne was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the 

late Riley A. and Louisa Jane Barlow May. She was also preceded in 

death by her husband, William Hampton Shelburne, in 1977; a son, 

Richard Silas Shelburne; and a grandson, Richard L. Shelburne.

Mrs. Shelburne was a retired bookkeeper of the Elizabethton Hardware. 

She was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Bobby Smith 

and Pamela Ann and Richard Campbell, all of Elizabethton; a son, William 

Hampton Shelburne Jr., and his wife, Carole, Douglasville, Ga.; a 

daughter-in-law, Nyoka Shelburne, Harrisburg, Pa.; a brother, T. Hill 

May, of Delaware; and eight grandchildren and spouses, Todd and Pam 

Smith, Jeffrey and Angel Shelburne, Ernie and Crystal Campbell, Anna 

and Dan Simerly, Debbie and Jack Mariano, Kathy Shelburne, Missy and 

Troy Whitehead and Ann and Jim Brown. Twelve great-grandchildren and 

several nieces and nephews also survive.
