Shook Jack Frederick Shook, 80, 1834 Highway 321, Hampton, died Monday, September 11, 2000, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Shook was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Hardy J. and Flora Shomaker Shook. He was also preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Shook was a retired building engineer. He was a building contractor in the Virgin Islands for a number of years and retired as a building engineer for the State of Tennessee in 1985. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise Gwin Shook; a son, Charles Frederick Shook, of the home; a brother, Charles Edward Shook, Johnson City; and his extended family, Bob and Mary Atwood. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SHOOK -- Funeral services for Jack Frederick Shook, 80, 1834 Highway 321, Hampton, who died Monday, September 11, 2000, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Beal, the Rev. Haskel Ingram and Mr. Martin Bennett officiating. Ann Stepp, soloist, and the church choir will provide the music. Interment will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be John Rainbolt, Terry Brummit, Richard Tester, Paul Gwin, Martin Bennett and James Matherly. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
