Shepherd 09/20/99 John L. Shepherd, Sr., 82, 128 VIP Road, Milligan College, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Richard L. and Jessie Ruth Price Shepherd. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He was a retired truck driver, having been employed by the former ET & WNC Truck Lines. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Shepherd was a member of the Hopwood Memorial Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Booth Shepherd; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Hayes, Milligan College; a son, John Shepherd, Jr., Milligan College; three granddaughters: Jessica Barnett, Christy Barnett and Sarah Hayes. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SHEPHERD -- Funeral services for John L. Shepherd, Sr., 82, 128 VIP Road, Milligan College, who died Friday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Tim Ross officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Milligan College Cemetery. Mr. Roy Hampton will provide the music. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday will be Conley Jones, Archie Robinson, Alfred Ludwig, Bill Ritchie, Richard Good and Russell Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be truck drivers of the former ET & WNC Truck Lines. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
