"Granny" Silver, 90, 135 Carrville Avenue, Johnson City, died Saturday, February 3, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Silver was a native of Carter County where she had lived most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Elijah and Sarah Cole Arnett and was also preceded in death by her husband, Harley Silver, in 1978, three daughters, Edna Silver, Bernice Silver and Marie Silver, a son, Earl Silver, and by four brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Silver was a homemaker. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church and attended Boone Trail Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Glenn Silver, Johnson City, Allen Silver, Morristown, and Harley Silver II, Knoxville, and four daughters, Hattie Ferrell, Robertsdale, Ala., Jean Colbaugh, of the home, Dean Ramsey and Helen McQueen, both of Johnson City. Thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. "Granny" Silver, 90, 135 Carrville Avenue, Johnson City, who died Saturday, February 3, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, February 5, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with the Rev. Ira Cunningham and Dr. Allen Davis officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Friends attending this service are invited to meet the family at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Dr. Jason Hatjioannou will be honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
