Simerly 05/03/99 Mrs. Etta Rose Sims Simerly, 94, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, died Friday, April 30, 1999, at Ivy Hall following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Simerly was a lifelong resident of Carter County. She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Jack Sims and Roy James Sims, and a grandson, Walter Steven Guerry Jr. Mrs. Simerly was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Bobby Gene Sims, Johnson City; two daughters, Mary Louise Shull, Asheville, N.C., and Patsy Kuykendall, McMinnville; and 11 grandchildren, Wayne Sims, Mary Sims, Sandra Church, Ronnie Sims, Bobby Sims, Debbi Bacon, Mark Kuykendall, Susie Hinez, Steve Sims, Todd Shull and Anna Lisa Collins. Twelve great-grandchildren also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. SIMERLY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Rose Sims Simerly, 94, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, who died Friday, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
