CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Arnold T. Simerly, 29 Sep 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Arnold T. Simerly Arnold T. Simerly, 81, 521 Golf Course Drive, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 29, 2002, at the James H. Quillen VA Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Simerly was a native of Roan Mountain and the son of the late Hill M. and Biddie E. Roberts Simerly. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bascousky Simerly. Mr. Simerly was of the Catholic faith and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was past commander of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166 during 1990-1992 and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn L. Hathaway and John B. Hathaway, Johnson City; a brother, Gary Simerly, Elizabethton; a sister, Georgia Burgan, Elizabethton; a grandson, Jason Hathaway, Gray; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hathaway, Gray. Simerly, 81, 521 Golf Course Drive, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, September 29, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Kress officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter, Carolyn L.
