CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ruby Marie Simerly, 17 Jan 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Ruby Marie Simerly, 78, Mill Pond Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, January 17, 2005, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Simerly was a native of Watauga County, N.C., and had lived in Elizabethton most of her life. She was the daughter of the late John Edward and Nancy Clark Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Simerly, two children, Timothy and Keith Simerly, one brother and five sisters. Mrs. Simerly retired from North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of the Hampton Order of Eastern Star #470 and the Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and John Norris, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jill Simerly, Elizabethton; a granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Jeff Berry, Jonesborough; a step- grandson, Alex Berry; special friends, Edith Watts, Louise Guy and Winona McGee; and her very special pet dog, Lucy. Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, in the Williams Cemetery with Bobby McGee officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McGee, Johnny McGee, Eddie McGee, Pat Ramsey, Joe Stitt, Bobby Hamby, Jeff Wilson and Eddie Wilson. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Staff and Employee of Ivy Hall and Adventa Hospice.
