CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Stanley Mackey Sims, 4 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Stanley Mackey Sims, 82, 248 Coal Shute Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, December 4, 2003, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Pettiebone & Delia Morris Sims. He was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation after 33 years of service. Mr. Sims was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Sims was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Henry Sims; and a sister, Janie Sims. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Edna Suess Sims; a brother, Taylor A. Sims, Johnson City; a brother-in-law,: Phillip Suess, Elizabethton; four nieces, Scharee Hill and her husband, Dewey, of Johnson City, Margaret Blevins and her husband, Earl, Elizabethton, Judy Smith and her husband, Randy, Hickory, N.C., and Sandra Icenhour and her husband, Dallas, of Conover, N.C.; one nephew: Roger Sims and his wife, Gail, Gray, Tenn.; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Centerview Cemetery. Ben Johnson and Jay Walsh will provide the music. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, will be, Wade Sluder, Carl Roberson, Jay Walsh, Robert Ray, Jimmy Carr, Ricky Johnson, Sam Harrison and Joel Elijah. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class, Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. V.F.W.
