Smith 07/06/99 Mrs. Arlene Dicey Shell Smith, 73, 114 Quail Drive, Roan Mountain, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Smith was a native of Roan Mountain and the daughter of the late Thomas and Legusta Shell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Silas Smith, a sister, Christine Shell, and two brothers, Vernon and Ray Shell. Mrs. Smith was of the Christian faith and attended Magill Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Smith, Johnson City, and Donald Smith, Roan Mountain; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and H.B. Richardson, Roan Mountain; four sisters, Clestine Franklin and Gladys Miller, both of Elizabethton, Ester Bennett and Faye Hodge, both of Roan Mountain; and three brothers, Carl Shell, Cranberry, N.C., T.J. Shell, Roan Mountain, and Thomas Shell, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. SMITH -- Graveside services for Mrs. Arlene Dicey Shell Smith, 73, 114 Quail Drive, Roan Mountain, a devoted wife and mother, who died Friday, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Perry Cemetery with Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Pallbearers were selected from family and friends. To those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Lung Association, 1808 West End Avenue, Suite 514, Nashville, TN 37203. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
