Smith 02/22/99 Bart T. Smith, 91, 120 Bart Smith Road, Hampton, died Saturday, February 20, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Art and Callie Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Tolbert Smith; three daughters, Marie Miller, Mary Ann Cullers and Betty Lou Morton; and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Smith was a member of Pearce's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Mable Hitechew, Roan Mountain, Pauline Ramsey and Nancy and Donald Roberts, all of Hampton, and Sandra Range, Elizabethton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bart Jr. and Sue Smith, Butler, and Steve Smith, Hampton; and a special friend, Maxine Whaley, Butler. Thirty-two grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. SMITH -- Funeral services for Bart T. Smith, 91, 120 Bart Smith Road, Hampton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Autumn Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Cates and Rev. Gary Perkins officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men's Class of Pearce's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Autumn Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son, Steve Smith, 125 Bart Smith Road, Hampton, any time. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
