Smith Mrs. Mary Slagle Smith, 76, 505 West "F" Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Smith was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Sabin and Nettie Honeycutt Slagle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rostand E. Smith Jr., in 1983, a brother, John Slagle, and three sisters, Margaret Slagle, Mae Potter and Marie Williams. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She was a volunteer at Carter County Memorial Hospital with over 6,000 volunteer hours, a former Cub Scout Leader and was presently volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Bill Mosley Jr., Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Rostand III and Gail Smith, Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Myrtle Shell and Mamie Grindstaff, both of Elizabethton; and a granddaughter, Amber Leigh Smith, Asheville, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. These services entrusted to the Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. www.Funeral- Plans.com/Hathaway-Percy SMITH -- Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Slagle Smith, 76, 505 West "F" Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, July 24, 2000, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Bunn and Dan Pratt. Active pallbearers will be John L. Bowers, John Wiggins, Greg Bowers, Jay Harold Ray, Dean Batchelder Sr., Scott Heaton and Eric Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hill Carlton and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at the residence, 505 West "F" Street, Elizabethton, any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O.
