Rhoda N. Smith

  Mrs. Rhoda Nell Pierce Smith, 86, 124 Albs Road, Hampton, died Thursday, 
May 10, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
  Mrs. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a 
daughter of the late Anderson K. Pierce and Nancy Jane Glover. She was also 
preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Smith, in May 1987, and a half-
sister, Belle Jackson.
  Mrs. Smith was a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
  Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Beulah and Monty Aldridge, 
Gail and Russell Hodges, Shirley and Terry Whitehead and Lula Belle and 
Richard Street, all of Hampton; three sons, Erby "Bud" Smith, James Jerry 
"Tip" Smith and Jackie Paul Smith, all of Hampton; four grandsons, Chris 
Hodges, Joe Street, Jackie Paul "Ned" Smith Jr. and Josh Smith; four 
granddaughters, Cheryl Harrison, Jan Hickman, Deani Smith and Jill Kennedy; 
and seven great-grandchildren, Kevin Harrison, Benji Harrison, Brandon Hodges, 
Jacob Street, Beth Hickman, Nicholas Kennedy and Vanessa Kennedy.
  Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

  SMITH -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rhoda Nell Pierce Smith, 86, 124 Albs 
Road, Hampton, who died Thursday, May 10, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
Saturday, May 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Campbell and 
the Rev. John Stevens officiating. Music will be provided by the Youth Choir 
of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services and interment 
will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active 
pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. 
Sunday, will be Chris Hodges, Joe Street, Jackie Paul Smith Jr., Josh Smith, 
Kevin Harrison, Ben Harrison, Carl Harrison, Brian Kennedy and Grat Hickman. 
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 
Friends may also call at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be 
made in memory of Mrs. Smith to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeast 
Tennessee Chapter, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, Tenn. 37601 or to the 
Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37644. Family 
and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go to the
