Smith Ralph Raymond Smith, 72, 1321 Lowe Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, October 13, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Samuel and Reva Hyder Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Smith, and a sister, Helen Phillips. Mr. Smith was a retired Route Salesman for Flav-O-Rich Inc., with 27 years of service, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended the First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Madlyn Peterson Smith; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Danny Smith and Darrin and Karla Smith, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mary Price, Elizabethton, and June Crowe, Johnson City; and a brother, Walter Brownlow Smith, Johnson City. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SMITH -- Graveside services for Ralph Raymond Smith, 72, 1321 Lowe Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, October 13, 2001, will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, October 15, in the Whitehead Cemetery (Gap Creek) with the Rev. Ricky Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service. Cheryl Appleba will provide the music. Friends may call at the funeral home or at the residence at any time. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 3:55 p.m. Monday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
