CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Millie Frances Smith, 9 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Millie F. Smith Mrs. Millie Frances Smith, 85, U.S. Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida Buckles Peters. Mrs. Smith was retired from the Carter County School System, having worked in the cafeteria at Unaka Elementary and Unaka High School. She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church and the senior adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene and Wayne Smith, and three sisters, Elizabeth Rash, May Peters and Catherine Berry. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Fred W. Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, of Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Smith, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother, Hobert Peters, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Wednesday will be Kurt Smith, Steve Smith, Ed Smith, Gary Smith, Tim Smith and John Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Ornduff, Don Hardin, Gary Arnold and Brian Smith. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
