Sparger ELIZABETHTON -- Jack C. Sparger, 84, of 510 Golf Course Drive died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Bristol Tennessee, he was the son of the late Samuel and Eula Roberts Sparger. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Sparger was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Sparger. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sparger of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Steve Dugger, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry R. and Ginny Sparger of Oakton,Va.; four grandchildren, Bethany Dugger and Nathan Dugger, both of Elizabethton, Kevin Sparger of Manassas Park, Va., and Patrick Sparger of Oakton; one great-granddaughter, Katherine Sparger of Manassas Park; one sister, June Sparger of Bristol Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Jean Sparger of Shady Valley; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Raymond and Imogene Millsaps of Elizabethton and Ed and Ginger Cobb of Elizabethton also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Buford Hankins officiating. The graveside service and interment will be Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace or friends may call at the residence, 51 Golf Course Drive, Elizabethton, any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to First United Methodist Church, 325 E. E St., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
