CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Nellie Hamby Stewart, 30 Jun 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Nellie Hamby Stewart, 85, Medical Park Dr., Mountain City, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at the Mountain City Care Center. A Carter County native, she was a daughter of the late William Henderson and Minnie Franklin Hamby. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker. She was a member of the Borderview Christian Church. Her husband, Joseph Daniel Stewart, Sr. preceded her in death on June 10, 1977. She leaves to mourn her loss a loving daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Russell Love, Mountain City; a loving son, Joseph Stewart and his fiance, Debbie Day, Bristol, Va.; a beloved granddaughter and her husband, Denise and Joel Norris, Elizabethton, and a special young man, Isaac Deaniel Stewart. Several brothers and sisters also survive. A Celebration of the life of Mrs. Stewart will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, with Mr. Bud Gentry, Mr. Kirk Langston, and Rev. Barr, ministers, officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. The Four in Faith and Scott Reynolds, organist, will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be Joel Norris, Ray Don Markland, Scott Reynolds, Russell Love, Joe Stewart and Walter Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Love, Hensel Johnson, Everett Stout, Rob Stout, Jim Hutchinson, Elders and Deacons of Borderview Christian Church. The family would like to express a heartfelt appreciation to Janet Wolfe and her late husband, Dave Wolfe, Doug Hornsby and Staff of Mountain City Care Center, the Johnson County Rescue Squad and Dr. Buddy Clayton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her granddaughter and her husband, Denise and Joel Norris, 236 Keenburg Rd., Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Stewart to the Resident's Fund of the Mountain City Care Center, 919 Medical Park Dr., Mountain City, TN 37683.
