Stafford Earl Thomas Stafford, 78, 813 Folsom Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Stafford was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Thomas Harvey and Grace Waycaster Stafford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Honolue Ward Stafford, who died in 1997, and by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Stafford was a retired landscaper and textile worker and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Rex Elbert Stafford, Bluff City, and Thomas Wayne Stafford, Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Thomas Stafford, Elizabethton, and K.P. Stafford, Gray; and five sisters, Gladys Eller, Elizabethton, Grace Bogalin, Newnan, Ga., Ruby Sams, Piney Flats, RheaAnn Stafford, Lenoir, N.C., and Nora Dooley, Grayson, Ga. Twelve grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. STAFFORD -- Funeral services for Earl Thomas Stafford, 78, 813 Folsom Street, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, January 9, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, January 11, at the Elizabethton Church of Christ with Mr. Eddy Craft, minister, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, in the Isaacs Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Pallbearers will be contacted. Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Friends may also call at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
