CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Gilbert H. Stout, 29 Jun 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Gilbert H. Stout, 82, Ridgewood Lane, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his loving wife of 60 years, whom he missed so much, on the 29th day of June, 2004 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Now, they are together again forever, and they will never have to part again. Dad was a loving father and grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved his God, and his family so much. He was an active church member. He set a wonderful example for us to follow. We loved dad with all our heart, and we will miss him terribly, but he's with mom again, and happy now, for he missed her so much. A native of Butler, he was a son of the late Abraham and Linnie Pardue Stout. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Mr. Stout was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Soloman Islands. He was a member of the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church. He helped found the Valley Forge House of Prayer and served as a deacon there for many years. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, and 15 half- brothers and sisters and his wife, Aness Imogene Stout, on April 2, 2004. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Phyllis and Mac Grindstaff and Marion Jane Stout, all of Elizabethton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Gilbert and Pat Stout, Elizabethton; Gary Mason and Helen Stout, Watauga, and William Thomas and Vivian Stout, Kingsport; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Perkins and Pastor Rick Price officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home. The Montgomery family will provide the music. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence. VFW Post #2166 will conduct military graveside honors. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
