CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Verl Street, 30 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Verl Street Verl Street, 75, Shell Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, October 30, 2003 in the Cannon Memorial Hospital, Lionville, North Carolina. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Harrison and Etter Ingram Street. Mr. Street was retired from the Carter County Highway Department after several years of service operating a road grader. He had served in the United States Army. Mr. Street was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselee Bledsoe Street; two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Aleshia Street, Roan Mountain, and Darrell and Brenda Johnson, of Roan Mountain; one brother, Billy Street, Hampton; three sisters, Marie Street and Willie Holtsclaw, both of Roan Mtn. and Carrie Carver, Elizabethton; three grandsons, Zachary Street, Tim Johnson and Scotty Johnson; one granddaughter, Gracie Street; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Donna Whitehead, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Interment will follow in the Crabtree-Johnson Cemetery. The Fork Mountain Singers will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Saturday will be Jim Strickland, Jason Strickland, Eddie Carver, Donnie Juliran, Sheriff John Henson, Johnny Ledford and Wayne Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Alfred Earwood, Dr. David Kimmell, Dr. W.C. Tate II, the staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Home and the staff of the Carter County Highway Department. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Saturday.
