A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John Kirk and Hattie Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Clark Stevens, four brothers and four sisters. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. Mr. Stevens was a member and deacon of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Jerome Street, Hampton; one son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Karen Stevens, Roan Mountain; one brother, William Hensley Stevens, Roan Mountain; three grandchildren, Deidre Stevens and Adam Stevens, both of Roan Mountain; and Tonya Hill and her husband Dana Hill, Hampton; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. STEVENS -- Funeral services for Daunt Stevens, 82, 765 Brown's Branch Road, Hampton, who died Friday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Terry Jones and L.D. Berry officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The Knight Family and The Carr Family will provide the music. Pallbearers will be men of Oak Hill Church, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Karen Stevens, 8275 Highway 19-E, Roan Mountain, or at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Jerome Street, 471 Sally Cove Creek Road, Hampton. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Monday. V.F.W. Post 2166 will provide military graveside honors. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
