Mrs. Stevens was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John and Ora Whitehead Simerly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana Stevens. Mrs. Stevens was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation and a member of Rittertown Baptist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Marie Whitehead, Roan Mountain. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. STEVENS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Maude Stevens, 90, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of Route 1, Hampton, who died Monday, April 2, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Coonse officiating. Kathy Whitehead will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, in the Largent Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Jamie Matheson, Greg Winters, Rick Cates, Lonnie Cates, Tony Whitehead, R.C. Hughes and Jerry Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Odom, Ford Townsend, Bill Street, Bill Cates, the Rev. Roy Cates and Harold Matheson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
