CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - William Hensley Stevens, 3 Dec 2004 ----¤¤¤---- William Hensley Stevens, 75, Suncrest Drive, Roan Mountain, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Pearl Stevens. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Mr. Stevens was a member of the Sunset Free Will Baptist Church, where he had attended for 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Wanda McKinney Stevens; a daughter and son-in- law, Carolyn and Larry Byrd, Stafford, Va.; two grandsons, Justin Byrd, Fredericksburg, Va., and Tom Byrd and his wife, Tonya, of Knoxville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev;. Sam Ferguson and the Rev. Glenn Byrd officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the McKinney Family Cemetery (Piney Grove community). The Sunset Free Will Baptist Church Choir and Patty Whitson will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, will be Clarence Garland, Eddie Morton, Arnold Hughes, Johnny Julian, Danny Cox and Phillip Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. R.E. Galloway, Dr. James L. Davenport, his cousins, his church family and the Rev. Terry Richardson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
