CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Robert A. "Bobby" Susong, 19 Oct 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Robert A. Susong Robert A. "Bobby" Susong, 72, 741 Well Street, Elizabethton, formerly of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Salisbury, N.C., died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Susong was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Warren and Nancy Horton Susong. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Susong Jr., March 14, 2002. Mr. Susong was a member of Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and a retired Maintenance Supervisor from Oklahoma City University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Ada Partee Susong, Salisbury, N.C.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie M. and Jennifer Susong, Durham, N.C., the Rev. Charles Eric and Amy Susong, Salisbury, N.C., and Paul and Kanietha Cathcart, Mesquite, Texas; four daughters and a son-in-law, Debra S. and Jim Wilson, Salisbury, N.C., Sheila Susong, Temple Hills, Md., Tanya I. Susong and Rhonda Bush, both of Salisbury, N.C.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Charlotte M. and Ralph Haynes, Arlington, Tenn., Virginia and Robert Pearson, Oklahoma City, Okla., Doris Bryson, Elizabethton, and Gwen and Noah Jackson, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a brother, George W. Susong Jr., Oklahoma City, Okla. Fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. "Bobby" Susong, 72, 741 Well Street, Elizabethton, formerly of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Salisbury, N.C., who died Saturday, October 19, 2002, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 24, at Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. James W. Reddick Jr. officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Kerrol Thompson. Graveside services and interment will follow the funeral service at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may call at Tetrick Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, at their convenience. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 24, at Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
