CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hazel Hodge Swift, 11 Mar 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Hazel Hodge Swift, 89, Broad Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Swift was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Abraham Lincoln and Molly Esther Cole Hodge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zeb L. Swift, two sisters, Josie Parks and Viola Bryant, two brothers, Claude Hodge and Eldridge Hodge, and four infant brothers. Mrs. Swift was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Patricia Swift, Elizabethton; one daughter, Brenda Campbell, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Jassen Campbell, Hilton Head, S.C., and Donald Chad Campbell, Charleston, S.C.; one great-grandson, Davis Edward Campbell, Hilton Head, S.C., and two sisters, Blonnie Hodge, Gray, and Nelle Hodge Treadway, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hardin officiating. Music will be under the direction of Edwin Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence, 1347 Broad Street, Elizabethton, anytime. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Theron Johnson, Lee Goodwin, Allen Goodwin, Wayne Markland, Wendell Treadway and Buster Arnold. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nursing Staff of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Frank Johnson, Dr. Kevin Sweet and Dr. Charles Allen. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
