CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Selma Estep Swift, 27 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Selma Estep Swift, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, formerly of West G Street, Elizabethton, died there Saturday, November 27, 2004. Mrs. Swift was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Godfrey and Lora Richardson Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James E. Swift, a daughter, Shelia Hardin, and a brother, Shade Estep. Mrs. Swift had lived in Florida for 20 years before returning to Elizabethton. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and a member of First Baptist Church of Apopka, Fla. Survivors include four grandchildren, Karen Cooke, Hickory, N.C., Micky, Linda and Vonda, all of Michigan; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Estep, Elizabethton; a brother, Burton Estep, Nashville; a special sister-in-law, Eva Estep, Elizabethton; and a special friend, Ruth Sams, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 29, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Carrier, Dallas Carrier, Johnny Richardson, R.M. Tester, R.J. Markland and Roscoe Sams.
