Taylor Carnie Glen Taylor, 95, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 160 Panhandle Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late J.V. and Susan Rambo Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a former employee of Watauga and Bunton Chevrolet and was the oldest living member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of the Unaka High School Basketball Team. He was a farmer and he loved to raise his garden. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by three wives, Maude Lacey Taylor, Faye Honeycutt Taylor and Effie Grindstaff Taylor; an infant son, Sherrill Taylor; two brothers, Clyde and Robert Taylor; and a son-in-law, Chester DeLawder. Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Pat and Ed Rigney and Glenda DeLawder, all of Elizabethton, Dallas Knight of Green Castle, Pa., and Sherry Miller of Bradenton, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Darrell and Charlotte Taylor of Johnson City, Javy and Ann Taylor and Estill and Ruby Taylor, all of Elizabethton. Eleven grandchildren, several great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Eric Heaton and Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Music will be under the direction of Michelle Faust, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, and other times at the home of a son, Javy Taylor, 172 Panhandle Road, Elizabethton. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church, special friend Glen Arnold, Tom Oxendine and Roger Carver. Honorary pallbearers will be the trustees of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church, Bobby Carr and Dejuane Sheffield. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 1951, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
