A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late David and Isabelle Garland Honeycutt. Mrs. Tipton was a lifetime member of the Roan Mountain Holiness Church where she attended faithfully until her health failed. Her love for the Lord and her love for her family well were known. She had a genuine love for being with people, visiting the sick and helping people in need. Also, working in her flowers inside and out gave her much joy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lon David Tipton, and four brothers, Paul Honeycutt, Earl Honeycutt, Frank Honeycutt and Zeb Honeycutt, all of Roan Mountain. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy J. and Bill Hershey of Roan Mountain; two grandchildren, Angela Dawn Morton and her husband Phillip Morton of Friendsville, Tenn., and Brian Daniell Hershey and his wife Michelle Hershey of Elizabethton; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Dawn Hershey of Elizabethton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Ruth Honeycutt of Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Tipton will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Julian and the Rev. Gene Honeycutt officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Julian and Jeanie Honeycutt. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, will be Bill Hershey, Brian Hershey, Phillip Morton, Terry Edwards, Brent Price and Gene Honeycutt. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Adventa Hospice for all their love and care of Mrs. Tipton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Hershey, 302 Cherry Street, Roan Mountain.
