Taylor 11/22/99 Harley B. Taylor, 87, 1123 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Saturday, November 20, 1999, at his residence following an illness of two years. Mr. Taylor was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Henry and Sarah Campbell Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and was awarded three Battle Stars. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Collins Taylor, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Dremma and Keith Garland, Johnson City; a sister, Ruby "Lillian" Morris, Elizabethton; and a brother, Merley Taylor, Elizabethton. TAYLOR -- Funeral services for Harley B. Taylor, 87, 1123 Highway 91, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Rev. James Garland officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Mrs. Helen Collins. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be James Blackburn, Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff, George Wilson, Kenneth Colbaugh, Gene Bowers and Gary Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lowe, Gary Collins, Don Collins, Mack Collins, Rev. James Richardson, Terry Collins, Kevin Collins, Ricky Collins, Wayne Davis, Eric Davis, Richard Dunnigan, James Thomas, Jackie Williams, Gray Carrier, Jerry Vines, David Turbyfill, Ernest Grindstaff, Ronnie Fox, Abraham Garland, Byron Garland, Gregg Garland and J.M. Peters. For those who prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Taylor may be made to Housecall Hospice, 106 Rogosin Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
