Taylor Effie Grindstaff Taylor, 85, 177 Hurley Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Annie Estes Grindstaff. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Nolan Grindstaff, and a brother, Floyd Grindstaff. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her husband, Carnie Taylor, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosalee and Terry Oaks, Elizabethton; a son and daughter- in-law, Henry and Edna Grindstaff, Elizabethton; a brother, Vester Grindstaff, Elizabethton; and two sisters, Eva Heatherly, Roan Mountain, and Zola Campbell, Elizabethton. Six grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. TAYLOR -- Funeral services for Effie Grindstaff Taylor, 85, 177 Hurley Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, November 21, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Walker Roberson, the Rev. Richard Estep and the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sherry Peters and Dennis Laws. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 23, at Vester Cemetery, Blevins Hollow Road, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Thursday for the graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 177 Hurley Hollow Road, Elizabethton, or at the residence of her children at any time.
